I have only run 2 marathon's in my life.... Grandma's in 2002 and Twin Cities in 2008. I just finished nothing spectacular.... This last year I got the running bug so here we are.... Let's see what happens!

Short-Term Running Goals:

I told myself that I was not going to run anymore Marathon's until I am 50.... Well, that didn't work! I have been talked into signing up for 35th running of Grandma's Marathon on June 18th, 2011... I have had running friends who have qualified for Boston and it has inspired me to see if I could qualify. So I guess we will see how it goes... Wish me luck.....

Long-Term Running Goals:

OK!! Maybe Boston should be my Long-term goal..... hmmm?

My first run of 2011.... Ran 4 miles in 33:56, which comes to a average pace of 8:29.  The temp out was about 15F but it was sunny. I am running on only about 3 hours of sleep, because I am oncall for work and was up most the night last night.... Funtimes!! Anyway glad I was able to get out and run. Oh, ran Swede Hallow with Jessica, she pushed it to me today I was not feeling it. Thanks Jessica!!!

Here's to the beginning of a new year of running!! Woot!! Woot!!

Just ran a slow 4 mile run with Bridget, John and Josh. It was a sunny 7F out when we ran at 11:30 today.  The trail was good, it looks like they plowed it this morning. The trail was a lot more icy yesterday, so we were loving that part. I took it pretty easy today though, it sure was a chilly day outside. We did this in 37:10 which is ok but pretty slow... I need to pick it up!  Well we will see what tomorrow brings...... 

 Plan to run in the evening tomorrow with the group and the Run Room.... 

 Can't wait!!!

Well, I got talked into running at Noon today and ran about 5 miles in about 46:12 and I haven't looked up that pace but it don't matter. I am just glad to get outside to run when it was snowing... I love running when the snow is falling it is so beautiful. There was a bunch of us at noon too! Amanda, Jessica, Bridget, Chad, Laurie, plus Bob and Cathy I think. We have some new people running with us during the day. So I am glad have more people to run with. I do like to have options and different paces are good.

Now tonight I went and ran with the run group from Running Room at 6pm. We ran about 6 mile route I believe or so. It took us about 56 minutes to run Lake Calhoun and Isle. I ran with Milton, Bunda, Seph, Madeline and Brian. It was actually kind of warm I believe it was about 23F and no wind. So really nice out but the path/trail was a little sloppy to get footing though but we worked through it. 

Yeah 11 miles today!! It's a start and I feel pretty good....

Only 3.5 mile run today and it was pretty cold 4F but Sunny..... It took Bridget and I 30:46 to do this. Kinda slow but at least I was out there. I think I'm taking the day off tomorrow too! I need a day of rest.....

Went and ran with John, Bridget and Arlene. It was a Sunny day and I think the temp was about 11F. It was good slow run and we had fun. We went by all the Stadiums, TCF, The Dome and Target Field. We then had Chili at John's and he showed us all his pictures from Italy and Greece.  Thanks John's 

 none running related my care starter then went out when I went to leave and had to get ride home from Bridget.... I love what the cold does to cars!!!

Another snowy run, it was more slippery and slushy today with the 20F temp.  Bridget, Josh, John, Diana and I ran Swede Hallow. I ended up running a little more for a total of 5miles at a time of around 44:07. I wanted to run again tonight but just did not find the time. 

 I also signed up for the Securian Forzen Half today, which will be run on January 29th. One of my goals for this year is to run a Half every month of 2011. So this will be a good start.....

What a beautiful day running with the big fluffy snow flakes... Ran with Amanda up through Swede Hallow and then over to the Capital and ran up Arch street hill... It was slow but good to get a hill in my run.....  We ran this in about 40:55.... so really slow but it was extra slippery out!! 

 At least we were moving and outside!!! Yeah!!!

Wow! we had 13 runners today for our run.... This is most runners we have ever had run all at the same time or at least start at the same time.... It was Awesome!!! We even picked up some new runners!!! Spreading the word is working, one runner at a time! Chad and I ended up running a little farther with the two new runners Randy and Sean. We end up running along the river and then finding our way back through the St. Paul streets.... It was sure fun and we went about 5.82 miles in 53.28, nice and slow but sure was fun.....

Had a good run with Casey, Amanda, and Bunda.... We ran StoneArch Birdge down West River Rd to the Ford Birdge and back.... It was a Sunny day but the temp was like -8 with the windchill... That wind on the way back in was brutel!!! We survived though!! It was good to get 12 miles in and we ran it in 1:57:46. So it was really slow but it sure was fun... thanks Casey, Amanda and Bunda!!!

Well, did not run Sunday or Monday... Sunday was rest day but Monday ended up being so busy working on my car! So I was glad to get out today even if it was pretty cold. We ran Mounds Hill 4 mile route today with Jessica, Bridget, Shawn, Amanda, and Josh. It was Sunny and about 5F out when we ran. It took us about 36:12 to run it today... Stil filling sluggish and very slow. I am going to try and get more hill work in starting now.

Well, with the windchill today it was about -18 below but I did not let it stop us from running. We ran Swede Hallow and then over and around the capital. That wind was brutal in some parts but with the sun out it sure made it better.... It was a nice run thanks Amanda and Bridget for joining me and showing Mr Cold that he has nothing on us..... We rock, way to go!!! 

It took us 41:30 to run this route....

Well another cold day of running, with temps in the -20 earlier this morning. It warmed up to about -7 when I ran today but at least there was no wind really... I got one other crazy runner to run with me, thanks Bob!!

Well, it was about 1F or so at 10am when Casey and I ran my St. Paul hill run. There was 6 good sized hills... It was a sunny day, the breeze was a little brutal in spots but it was overall pretty good! It took us 2:08:22 to run my crazy route. I think Casey did awesome with all the hills and the cold.... Thanks Casey for running with me, it made it much more enjoyable.

I went to running room and ran with that group. We ended up doing 6 miles with doing lake Calhoun and Isle. The temp was about -7 or so at 8:30 when we ran... It was another sunny day which makes it so much better....  It took us 54:21 to run this route.... The run felt a little sluggish but when I was done it was all good.......

Wow it really warmed up today it's in the 20's today... Downright Blamy!!! I had to many layers on today during our 4 mile run.... hope it's this warm this coming Saturday for the Frozen Half in St. Paul.  Ran with Amanda, Jessica, Josh, Randy and Shawn today... Got new tights and they feel really tight... I guess it's been awhile since I had a new set.

Wednesday run with Josh and Bridget was good... We ran Swede Hallow, they turned around at the 1.6 mile split. I continued on to the two mile turn around. I almost caught them on the way back but they finished a couple of minutes ahead of me. It took me 33:24 to the whole route. It took me 18 minutes or so on the way out but only 15 minutes on the way back, not bad huh.... I think that I'll be ready for Saturday's race.....  Tomorrow nice and easy run.....

So this race was suppose to be a Half Marathon 13.1 but they messed up on the turn around point and we all turned around a mile or so early. This sucks!! I was on pace to PR too.... Oh Well... I actually did not feel good either.... I had been sick since Thursday and probably should not have run... I am paying for it now!! I feel like crap.. My head feels like it's going to blow up... For being sick I did feel good running... I guess the training runs helped and those hills helped I ran last weekend....  I started off running with Casey and Jessica but they were running a pace way to fast for me... I only stayed with them for the first couple of miles. Though I almost caught Jessica at the end she finished about 20 seconds ahead of me...  I am happy and upset at the same time here... I usually don't stay upset to long so it will be all good!!  

I am overall happy!! its my choice....

 There's another run tomorrow!!!

So I have been sick with the Crud all week!!! So no running... It really sucks!!! 

I guess I should not have ran the race last Saturday when I was sick..... That's what I get!  

What have others done to recover from being sick? How have others got back to where they were? I am looking for tips to help me get back quicker to where I was at....

Well, I'm feeling a little better and I got talked into running indoors.... We were down in Madison and went and ran on the UW indoor track.... It was fun but my lungs were feeling it afterward. I think I coughed up a lung.....

Still a little sick with this chest cold.... really sucks!! I decided I needed to get back and run so I went to Y and ran on the indoor track. It was a little bit hard on my lungs but once I got going it was pretty good. ran 4 miles in 30:16 which was really good for me and being sick lately. pace of 7:34 wow!! Hope this chest thing goes away.

Just ran to High Bridge and back on a very sunny day. My legs felt a little heavy but it was good to be outside..... It took me 25:35 to run this, so not to fast but I hope it will get better!!!

What a change in weather today! I believe it was almost 55F yesterday and today high of 27F but with the wind they say it feels like 10F.... Hey on a positive look at least its sunny.....  Well, I ran alone today. I missed yesterday because of work. So that was my day of rest and I ran today. I ran mounds hill which is a 4mile route out and back. It took me 30:37 and it was an ok run just glad it was sunny! I had the wind on my back on the way out but on the way back oh my!!! that wind just sucks the life out of you! I know suck it up J!!! I am running a Half tomorrow for my February race... It's just a long run!!!

What a great race for me... It was kinda cold with the temp at 10F but at least it was sunny. I met a guy Dan while running and we paced each other. It sure helped running with Dan, he pushed me to keep up the pace and relax. So Thanks Dan! This is a PR for me too 1:40:10, I am very happy... I hope that I can keep this up!

ran a 10 mile recovery run today. What a change in temp from yesterdays 10F to 26F. The snow storm has just started. We are suppose to get any where from 12 to 20 inches.... Ran with my peeps from the running room.... Thanks for a great run.

I went to the Y and ran the treadmill. Ran for 25.01 and it was relaxed and good. Even if it was on the dreadmill....  With the snow storm It was just easier to run at the Y.

Ran with Uptown Running Room run group... Michael, Sean and I ran Calhoun, Harriet and over to 50th and then back. It was around 8miles. It took us 1:11:08 to run this. I am not sure about the exact mileage.... We pushed it about the last couple of miles and it felt good.....

Ran Swede Hallow with Jessica at noon and the temp has finally warmed up to about 30F. I pulled a muscle in my lower abs to my groin area on the right. I hope this does not affect my running....

I had to take a half day at work today so no running at Noon today. I was able to run today at 5pm so I decided to run 12miles. It sure got cold by that time and it was mainly because of the wind. It took me 1:39:55 to run this 3 four mile loops.

I did my speed workout today at Noon.... Since there is so much snow there is not to many tracks to my 4 X 800's. I marked off a half mile area on the Swede Hallow route to do my 4 X 800's and it worked out good. Here is how it turned out.

 1 mile warmup = 12minutes

  1st 800 = 3:28

  2nd 800 = 3:33

  3rd 800 = 4:01

  4th 800 = 3:30

 1 mile cooldown = 11minutes

 It felt OK, I have not did this type speed work in a long time..... I am glad I did it!!!

I ran two four mile loops around the home. I on call for work and have to stay close. My groin injury has gotten a little worse. I sat in the hot tub and iced later that night. I hope it starts feeling better. still only took me 1:06:41 to run this route..... I have a race coming up on the 19th. I hope that it will be better by then.....

I did not run today I took the day off from running and did group cycle instead. I am trying heal my groin injury......so I am not sure what 30 minutes in group cycle will turn out to be... so I just gong to go with 3.

I did not go to the Y today, I trying to rest my groin injury.... I ran 2 four mile loops tonight at home.... It felt ok but I can still tell there is a problem with my groin.... It took me 1:04:18 which is faster then on Sunday so at least that good..... I think I need to rest this injury some more.
